Safeguarding Statement for CCHS

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children & families and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

This means that we all are committed and act to;

  • work with other agencies & share information appropriately to safeguard students & adults
  • protect students from maltreatment and ensure their safety & wellbeing
  • prevent impairment of student’s health or development
  • ensure that students grow up in an environment of safe and effective care
  • encourage students to strive to be the best they can & achieve their best outcomes

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies & procedures

The school operates under the Pontefract Academies Trust (PAT) and the trust-wide Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.

Safeguarding - existing staff and volunteers at CCHS

All staff are subject to the PAT Code of Conduct.

If a staff member has concerns about the actions or behaviour of another staff member that may have harmed a student in some way, then this must be reported immediately to the Headteacher (or the Chair of Executive School Governance Committee,  if the concern relates to the Headteacher) who will consider what action to take.

Safeguarding – applicants for employment at CCHS

We are committed to Safer Recruitment practices and will always scrutinise all evidence from application forms, references & interview so that only those candidates who convince the panel of a positive attitude towards safeguarding & promoting the welfare of children, are appointed.

Safeguarding Team at CCHS (see below)

If you are a staff member and concerned about the safety of any child at CCHS, then please complete a CPOMS incident report and speak to one of the Safeguarding Team immediately so that they can act swiftly. If you are a visitor, then please speak to a member of the Safeguarding Team immediately.
