Music Extra Curricular Groups Spring 2010

NB - Learners should keep their eyes on the music notice board for changes to the above schedule, due to unavoidable meetings and concerts.
Music curriculum – KS3.
As part of the Music curriculum students will develop their understanding of performing, composing and listening. They will also develop their ability to review and evaluate their own work and the work of others.
Music is delivered in one hour timetabled lessons in which students follow half term programmes of study as outlined below;

Music curriculum – KS4
The Edexcel BTEC Music level 1 Certificate/Diploma course is taught in Key stage 4. The course is unit based and allows students to develop their prior musical understanding, knowledge and practical ability. The units of work contain practical, research and written tasks which assist the students in developing their musical appreciation.

Instrumental lessons are available to those students who wish to learn to play or develop their instrumental skills, at highly subsidised rates.
School band –Students who receive instrumental lessons are expected to participate in school band.
Choir – Students who receive singing lessons are expected to participate in the school choir. Any students who enjoy singing are also welcomed.
Music Theory - All students are welcome, as we will be starting from the beginning and working through the grades, with the aim of taking the grade 5 theory exam in the Autumn term of 2011.
