Progress through learning and teaching
The Curriculum
Year 7 learners join one of three learning "pathways" which offer a curriculum and methods of assessment closely suited to their abilities.
In KS4 besides following statutory courses, we offer a mixture of traditional GCSEs and more vocational options such as BTecs. A small number of learners also have the opportunity for extended work experience placements. As a Specialist Science College, gifted and talented learners have the opportunity to study separate sciences and all other learners take double science.
Independent learning is actively encouraged at all times. Learners have access to the Learning Resource Centre and the computer suites, both throughout the day and after school, where staff are available to assist. Learners are encouraged to use on-line learning programmes and to access KS4 and KS3 revision guides and web sites.
