Specialist Science College

As a Science and Mathematics Specialst College we don't just strive for excellence in these areas but across the whole curriculum. This also extends to our partner school and the wider community. We like to take our learners beyond the classroom so that their educational experiences can be enriched. We seek to do this by regular, competitions and "out of the ordinary" visits by guests covering a rage of activities and experiences.

We work in collaberation with:

• Leeds University which out learners regularly visit
• Pontefract NEW College
• Queen Elizabeth Grammar School
• Wakefield Girls High School
• The Kings School where groups of learners from all four schools work together on different activities.

We have developed strong links with our educational community. Staff and learners visit primary schools and the school hosts primary events which often include the involvement of our year 7 and 8 learners.

Independent/State School Partnership (ISSP) together with QEGS, WGHS, KHS

A number of ISSP events are planned between now and the summer.  Here is a basic framework of what is planned that will involve learners from CHS.

We work closely with West Yorkshire Astronomical Society and as a result we believe we are unique in involving the community and local school.
